The Lakeland Queen in Rotorua is New Zealand’s only genuine stern wheel, paddle driven boat, designed on the Mississippi River boats. We gladly welcome you on board for a scenic cruise, complimented with a mouth watering range of cuisine and selection of NZ wines and beverages. Enjoy breakfast or lunch while cruising on Lake Rotorua. Take in the scenery of key landmarks and the surrounding countryside such as Ohinemutu, Kawaha Point, Mokoia Island, and Sulphur Point. The crew of MV Lakeland Queen prides itself on quality and service to all and provides cuisine to suit the discerning tastes to its varied international clientele.
About the Queen
Purpose built and launched in 1986, The Lakeland Queen has only ever sailed on Lake Rotorua. Built locally, the Lakeland Queen is modelled after the shallow draft, stern driven Mississippi River boats, making the boat ideal for Lake Rotorua and its shallow lakebed.
In 2006, the Lakeland Queen was lengthened by 10 metres and the interior was completely refurbished including the installation of a new kitchen, new bar facilties, extra toilets and a new dance floor. With her two decks, the Lakeland Queen can carry up to 300 passengers.
