Hot Pools
Nestled in lush rainforest, the Glacier Hot Pools is a haven of natural tranquillity and the perfect way for visitors to unwind and experience a blissful state of pure relaxation after travelling along Te Tai o Poutini (The West Coast) or enjoying one of its many attractions.
The Glacier Hot Pools are fed by the waters of Kā Roimata o Hinehukatere, the frozen tears of Hinehukatere for her lost love. According to the legends of Ngāi Tahu (the local Māori tribe), these tears of aroha (love) were frozen by the gods, forming what is known worldwide as the Franz Josef Glacier, or to Ngāi Tahu as Kā Roimata o Hinehukatere – The Frozen Tears of Hinehukatere.
The three invitingly warm main pools and three secluded private pools are nestled within the bosom of Tāne Mahuta – Guardian of the Forest with his children, the native bush and birdlife creating a tranquil space to revive your tinana (body), hinengaro (mind) and wairua (spirit).
The Private Hot Pools can hold up to 4 people and there is a minimum of 2 people per pool. Private Pools can not be booked for 1 person only due to health and safety regulations.
Massages
Secluded within our rainforest sits the Glacier Hot Pools exclusive massage facility. This oasis of tranquillity overlooks the natural setting and is the perfect place to relax and rejuvenate.
Your highly skilled and professional massage therapist will create an experience specifically designed to suit your needs and requirements. From a Swedish massage or relaxation massage, to trigger point therapy, sports massage, or deep tissue massages, even myofascial release our therapists will tailor make your session to you. Trip Includes
- Massage - 30, 60 or 90 minute massage
- Private Hot Pool - 45 minutes in a private hot pool plus entry into the public hot pool
Duration
- Massage - allow 15 mins extra from the length of massage you choose
- Private Hot Pool - allow 1hr (45mins in the pool)
- Public pools - open from 12pm to 10pm (cannot pre book)

- Conveniently located in the heart of Franz Josef township on Cron Street
- The Glacier Hot Pools facility is open from 12pm - 10pm everyday
Other Information
- There are only 3 private pools so we recommend booking this well in advance
- The Private Hot Pools can hold up to 4 people and there is a minimum of 2 people per pool. Private Pools can not be booked for 1 person only due to health and safety regulations
- The public pools do not need to be booked and cost $23 per adult and $16.50 per child
- Pool temperature is 36 - 40 degrees celcius
- Towels, lockers, retail and refreshment facilities are all available on site
