White Water Sledging - Kaitiaki Adventures Rotorua
About
Description
Kaitiaki Adventures are New Zealand’s original white water sledging specialists, operating on the Kaituna river since 1989.
In the late 70's some keen Frenchmen were lying on bags full of life jackets and polystyrene, floating down stream. In 1981 the first water sledge was built (hydrospeed or hydrospeeding) it's now a professional sport in Europe and gaining popularity around the world including New Zealand.
The attraction of white water sledging is that you are in control - propelled by the flippers on you feet. The sledges are river purpose designed craft.
There is something for everyone on this beautiful scenic excursion. Play holes and awesome rapids to negotiate your way through as you are in charge of your own vessel. Take the river on at eye level and propel yourself through the water by the flippers on your feet. Our qualified guides are there to encourage, motivate and help you where necessary. This is a white water adrenaline junkies dream.
You are equipped with a padded wetsuit, booties, life jacket, helmet and fins for kicking, providing propulsion and steering. Your chest rests on the board and your arms are tucked neatly inside for good grip and control. The great thing about sledging is that you don't need any experience.
