4WD Bush Safari - self drive
Our professional guide gives instructions, while your heart is racing with anticipation. The terrain is like nothing you have encountered before and the challenges come thick and fast. Fun climbs and descents. Tight, twisting bends. Deep, muddy holes!
Monster 4X4 Thrill Ride - professional driver
The 4X4’s unique 4 wheel steering mechanism helps to power through NZ Native Bush, up and down near-vertical slopes tackling the ‘Widow Maker’ and the ‘Loggers Long Drop’. Every part of your body will be holding on tight.
Raceline Karting - self drive
Feel the anticipation as you suit up, pull on a helmet and prepare to race one of Off Road New Zealand’s state-of-the-art, 4-stroke 390cc Sodi karts. Experience the sensation of ground rush as your kart reaches up to 100km/hour on the 150-metre straight. Different race formats available.

Duration
- 4WD Bush Safari – allow 45 minutes to an hour
- Monster 4X4 Thrill Ride – approx 15 minutes
- Raceline Karting – approx 30 minutes with a full 10 minute track time
Departures
- Depart every hour from 9am to 5pm
- Operates all year (rain, hail or shine!)
- Free return transfers from your Rotorua accommodation or meet at Off Road NZ which is located 20 minutes north of Rotorua, off State Highway 5, heading towards Hamilton / Auckland

- A complimentary shuttle is available from Rotorua City to the Off Road NZ activity centre, for those without transportation
- Off Road NZ provides all wet whether and safety equipment for our Rotorua 4WD Bush Safari and Monster 4X4 Thrill Ride as well as race suits, full face helmet, gloves and balaclavas for the Raceline Karting experience. All you need to bring is sun protection for the summer, your camera to catch the action, a big sense of adventure and a ‘can do’ attitude
- 4WD Bush Safari - drivers need to have a licence. You need to sign a waiver confirming you have a current drivers licence in your country of origin
- Monster 4X4 Thrill Ride – you must be over 1.2 meters tall to take on The Monster
- Raceline Karting - drivers need to be 14 years or older & over 1.4 meters
- If I am a passenger only on the 4WD Bush Safari, do I still pay? Yes, the cost is a per person cost. Being the passenger can be just as thrilling and challenging as being the driver. Children can come along as passengers at child rate
- Can I drive the Monster 4X4? No, our guides are specifically trained to drive the Monster 4X4. It's not as easy as they make it look!
- How many laps do I get during the Raceline Karting Experience? The amount of laps you do will depend on your driving skill and speed! Come and show us your stuff!
- Will I get dirty at Off Road NZ? Off Road NZ provides all wet weather protection to keep you clean
