Description

A full day guided kayak excursion with Fiordland Wilderness Experience exploring the waterways of Lake Te Anau alongside the world famous Milford Track.

The day begins with a short transfer by road from Te Anau to Te Anau Downs before boarding a catamaran for a one hour cruise to the head of Lake Te Anau and the start of the Milford Track. On arrival, all passengers change into paddling gear and are given a full safety briefing and instruction from the experienced guide. Paddlers will then enjoy 3.5 hours kayaking on Lake Te Anau surrounded by the stunning scenery of Fiordland National Park. From the vantage point of a kayak at water level, paddle silently on the clear waters while the guide shares the natural and social history of the area and Milford Track. On completion of the guided kayak, return by catamaran and then transport by road to Te Anau.

  • Tours depart from Te Anau
  • Minimum age for kayaking is 16 years
  • Medium level of fitness and some water confidence requried but no previous kayaking experience necessary
  • Please bring lunch (if not ordered), swimsuit, shorts to wear over thermal leggings, sandals or soft shoes, socks, towel, sunglasses and sunscreen, water bottle, insect repellent, camera, rain jacket
  • You are provided with thermal top and leggings, wetsuit vest, fleece top, paddle jacket, spray deck, fleece hat, paddle gloves, clothing and camera dry bag, double kayak, paddle, all safety and emergency equipment
