The Helicopter Line's Mount Cook base operates from Glentanner Park, situated only 15 minutes drive from the Aoraki/Mount Cook Village and the Hermitage Hotel, and 20 minutes along State Highway 80 after turning off State Highway 8 between Christchurch and Queenstown. The Helicopter Line also operates from Twizel township, alongside SH8 between Queenstown and Christchurch.

The Helicopters and Safety
The Helicopter Line fleet consists predominantly of European AS355 Twin Engine Squirrels, and AS350 Squirrels. They are ideal for scenic flights, with an open plan cabin making for excellent views.
The Helicopter Line has the highest level of Civil Aviation Authority certification for scenic helicopter operations, this involves regular monitoring and audit of all aspects of our operations.
Mountains High - 45 minutes
Our premier flight over this amazing alpine region with vast snowfields, glaciers and a spectacular view of New Zealand's highest peak, Aoraki/Mount Cook. Land high above glaciers and experience what it feels like to stand in snow amongst the mountains. Traverse the Southern Alps to view the mighty Fox and Franz Josef Glaciers as they journey slowly down towards the native rainforests and the Tasman Sea on the rugged West Coast.
Alpine Explorer - 30 minutes
Experience this magnificent alpine environment with a high alpine flight over the Ben Ohau Mountains. Fly close to the steep ridges and rise over a mountain pass which reveals superb views out to Aoraki/Mount Cook and its surrounding peaks. Prepare yourself for an amazing alpine landing where you will be able to step out of the helicopter and play in the snow.
Alpine Vista - 20 minutes
This short scenic option is the ideal opportunity to touch snow and experience the thrill of a helicopter flight. Sweep through the rugged high country landscape of the Ben Ohau Mountain Range to a landing site on a snow field high in the mountains. Enjoy the fantastic vista from this alpine setting as you look out to the mountains and glaciers, and down into the valleys that were carved out by glaciers centuries ago.
