Globe riding with ZORB Rotorua is a great way to get your adrenaline fix, and a must-do adventure activity when you're visiting New Zealand.
The sport of globe riding - "rolling down a hill in a large inflatable ball" - was invented in New Zealand, and has been developed and refined by ZORB for over 15 years. ZORB Rotorua is the only site in New Zealand to go globe riding, and has visitors from all corners of the globe coming for their little taste of adventure.
ZORB Rotorua has something for everyone - ride wet or dry, solo or with mates, straight or zig-zag, tumbling or sliding...you name it, there's something here for you! Globe riding with ZORB is great fun for the whole family (6years and up) and a must-do activity whether you're hear on holiday, or simply visiting friends & relatives.
Ride Options
ZORB Rotorua has two main ride options: The ZYDRO (wet) ride and the ZORBIT (dry) ride - both completely different.
The ZYDRO ride is our most popular ride and will have you slipping, sliding and spinning (note here, no tumbling!) your way down our hill. We throw you and a few litres of water (warm in winter, cool in summer) into our ZORB globe and send you on your way down our hill. You can choose to ride solo down our straight or zig-zag track, or with up to two other mates down our straight track. Definitely a wild ride...
The ZORBIT ride is what we like to call our "Astronaut in training" ride. We securely strap you into our specially designed safety harness within our ZORB globe and send you on your way down our straight track. Unlike the ZYDRO ride, the ZORBIT will have you tumbling head-over-heels down our hill with a mix of g-force and weightlessness. There are three ride variations to the ZORBIT so no one ride is the same! Not for the faint hearted...
Zorb Experience - 3 rides
Buy two rides and get one ride free. You can select any three rides (or three of the same) and get them all for the price of two. What more could you ask for? The rides can NOT be split between multiple persons. This entitles one person to experience three rides of their choosing.

Duration
- Allow 1 hour including travel time from Rotorua
Departures
- Every hour during daylight hours
- You will need to get your own way to the Zorb base located 10kms from Rotorua township on State Highway 5 next to the Agrodome. You can drive yourself or catch the local bus that departs every 10 minutes from town
Other Information
- The Zorb Rotorua site is located on the corner of Western Road and State Highway 5, Ngongotaha, 10 minutes drive from Rotorua. If you don't have a car there is a “City Ride” bus that leaves central Rotorua every 15 minutes and is only NZ$2.20 each way and will drop you right outside our door! You need to take bus Route 1: Ngongotaha to get here!
- Minimum age is 6 years old
- ZYDRO ride: maximum weight solo is 130kgs, maximum weight multi (up to three people) is 250kgs
- ZORBIT ride: minimum height requirement is 1.6m, maximum weight restriction is 100kgs
- Operates in all weather conditions and perfect on a rainy day
- Bring a change of clothes and a towel if you are doing the Zydro ride
